Endemaj Joins Ramadan Food Drive For Worker Communities
Dubai, May 2021 – In solidarity with the giving spirit of Ramadan, the Endemaj team sought to pay it forward to the local worker community by taking part in “Ramadan Curryeem,” a month-long food drive for fasting workers in Dubai.
Organised by Classic Catering, a catering company based in Dubai Investment Park, Ramadan Curryeem is a charitable initiative that seeks to distribute packed, freshly cooked, ready-to-eat meals to worker communities all across the city.
The food drive represents an open platform for local sponsors, brands, and businesses to safely reach out to worker communities, even during a period as precarious as the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Initially, it was just a thought to teach my daughter gratitude,” noted Bobby Kapoor, Chef Partner at Classic Catering, on how it all started.
As time passed, however, that simple idea rapidly grew into a powerful movement, as more and more people signed up to take part. Now, the food drive successfully delivers thousands of meals to fasting workers around the city every Ramadan.
This is made possible through the support of local sponsors and the assistance of volunteers looking to give back in their own little way.
Operating under a model similar to a community kitchen, Classic Catering opens its doors to volunteers during Ramadan, allowing people from all walks of life to take part in the food packing and preparation process.
This collective effort has reportedly seen the successful delivery of over 54,000 meals to the needy throughout the month of Ramadan, marking a successful and fruitful food drive despite unprecedented conditions.
“Local workers have been the backbone of Dubai’s growth throughout the years,” said Thomas Stray, Chief Executive Officer of Endemaj Funds. “The emirate would not be where it is today without the help of these men and women.”
“This simple gesture of helping prepare and pack food for them during Ramadan is our team’s simple way of giving back to them, for all their efforts and hard work,” he added.
